Maharashtra schools to reopen for all classes from Jan 24: Varsha Gaikwad
The announcement comes a few days after Health Minister Rajesh Tope said the state government will take a call in the next 10-15 days for resuming physical classes across the state.
Maharashtra School Reopening: Amid the ongoing pandemic situation, the government of Maharashtra has decided to reopen schools for students of Classes 1 to 12 from January 24. The state closed the schools earlier this month due to the rising number of novel coronavirus cases and Omicron variant scare. However, the closure created a lot of conflict between parents and students highlighting academic losses. Various parents demanded school reopening with restrictions in place in order to curb the loss of education.
Considering the ongoing scenario, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that the government has decided to reopen schools for all classes from January 24, 2022. The announcement comes a few days after Health Minister Rajesh Tope said the state government will take a call in the next 10-15 days for resuming physical classes across the state.
"From 24 (January) we will be reopening schools for classes 1-12th with COVID protocols; CM has agreed to our proposal, Ms Gaikwad told ANI.
"have also decided to open pre-primary schools (from January 24)," the minister added.

On January 8, The Maharashtra government-directed schools to suspend offline classes in view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The government had ordered school closure until February 15.
However, after receiving various requests from parents and other stakeholders, Health Minister Rajesh Tope on January 16 hinted at the reopening of educational institutions. He said the final decision on the reopening of Maharashtra schools will be taken by the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
