
AICTE has directed all the Standalone Institutions to effect admission under TFW Scheme in a very transparent way as per the Norms provided in Appendix 9 of the Approval Process Handbook.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released an official notification regarding the Tuition Fee Waiver {TFW} Scheme for all approved PGDM/PGCM Standalone institutions. The Council in its notice stated that βTFW Scheme shall be applicable to all approved PGDM/PGCM Standalone institutions similar to all other AICTE approved Technical institutions. The scheme shall be mandatory for all Standalone institutions approved by the Council.β
AICTE TFW Scheme Eligibility
Talking about the eligibility and requirements to avail the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, AICTE stated, βSons/ Daughters of parents whose annual income from all sources NOT more than Rs.8 Lakhβ can apply for the scheme. The notice further reads, βThe Waiver is limited to the Tuition Fee as approved by the BOG of the Institution for all Self Financing Institutions and by the Government for the Government/ Government Aided Institutions. All other Fees except the Tuition Fees shall have to be paid by the beneficiary. Academic eligibility for admission remains same as that applicable for other category candidates.β
AICTE TFW Admissions Procedure
Elaborating on the admission procedure under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, AICTE said, βUnder this scheme, up to a maximum of 5% of "Approved lntake" per Course shall be available for this admission. These seats shall be supernumerary in nature (over and above the approved intake). These supernumerary seats shall be available only to such Course(s) in an institution, where a minimum of 5O% of "Approved Intake" are filled up in last Academic year.β βln case of any punitive action (penalty) the TFW seats shall be calculated based on the actual approved intake (reduced intake). Similarly, TFW seats calculated as per the procedure mentioned above are separate from the TFW seats already reserved /earmarked as a part of punitive action (if any),β the Council added.
AICTE directed all the Standalone Institutions to effect this admission in a very transparent way as per the Norms provided in Appendix 9 of the Approval Process Handbook. βIn the event of non-availability of students in this category (as defined in point 2.0.1, the same shall not be given to any other category of candidates. The institution shall make separate provisions while inviting applications for admissions under this category by clearly mentioning the eligibility criteria; make a separate merit list for this category and effect admission on the basis of the merit list so generated,β AICTE said.
In order to inform students about the scheme, each Standalone Institution have been directed by the Council to publish the details of the scheme in their Brochure and official Website. According to the notice, the institutions have also received directions to upload a separate list of the students admitted under this category on AICTE web portal for compliance.
