Error in VARC Answer Key of CAT 2024
CAT 2024 result finds itself in the middle of legal net after a test taker reached the Delhi High Court seeking cancellation of the result. As reported by Bar and Bench, Aditya Kumar Mallick, who appeared for the CAT 2024 exam on November 24, 2024, has raised an objection to the provisional answer key, contending that there was an error in one question from the VARC section of the CAT 2024 question paper.
He filed a petition before the Delhi High Court challenging the CAT result 2024. The matter was taken up on December 24 by a Bench comprising Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav. The court has sought the responses of the Union Ministry of Education and the CAT convening institute, IIM Calcutta. The case has been posted for hearing next on January 3, 2025.
CAT 2024 exam was conducted on November 24, 2024 and over 2.93 lakh candidates appeared for it. The official CAT 2024 answer keys were released on December 3 and the objection window was opened till December 5, 2024. A total of 405 objections were received and upon examination, none of them were found to be valid. Maximum objections were raised in the VARC section (371) across three exam slots but none of them were accepted as valid. The final CAT 2024 answer key was released on December 16, 2024 three days before declaration of the CAT 2024 result.
The petitioner states that the final CAT 2024 answer key was released with no change in the provisional answer key. He added that his objection is supported by distinguished experts and faculty members of various CAT coaching centres.
