XAT 2025 aspirants will be allowed to use scientific calculator in the exam. The announcement has been made by XLRI on its website. XAT 2025 will be held on January 5, 2025. Check details.
XAT 2025 exam: Use of calculator allowed
XLRI has announced that scientific calculator will be allowed in XAT 2025. The candidates will get the option to use the calculator during the exam. This announcement is a good news for aspirants as a lot of calculation is required for Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation questions of XAT. From this year, they will not have to rely on rough work on sheet or mental calculation to solve Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation Questions. Apart from the scientific calculator no other gadget will be allowed for use during the exam.
XAT 2025: Calculator allowed
XAT 2025 exam is scheduled on January 5, 2025 and the last date to register for it is November 30, 2025. Candidates who have not registered for the exam yet, must do so before the XAT 2025 registration last date.
This year, XLRI has announced more changes in the XAT exam. The essay writing section has been removed from the test and GK questions have been reduced to 20. This year, the XAT exam duration will be 180 minutes and the XAT 2025 question paper will have only 2 parts.
- Part 1: DM, VA-LR, Quantitative Ability (170 minutes)
- Part 2: GK (10 minutes)

Essay writing will be a part of the Personal Interview process and GK score will be evaluated during selection process only. While announcing the changes, the examination body said, “these modifications are designed to ensure that XAT remains a robust and efficient tool for assessing the potential of candidates” seeking admission to XLRI’s various management programmes.

XAT exam is conducted in online mode so you don’t have to carry any stationary item apart from a blue/black ball point pen which is to be used for signing the attendance sheet.
Candidates should not carry to the examination centre, electronic items such as phone, watch, IPad, calculator, pager, etc. They should also not carry any metal items. Clothes and accessories having metal and metal jewellery are also prohibited inside the examination centres. Caps, headgears, sunglasses, clothes with pocket and hoodies are not allowed at the XAT exam centre. Candidates must also not carry bags and any other valuable item as candidates will not be allowed to carry anything inside the exam centre apart from a pen and documents. There will be no arrangement for depositing the bag at the exam centre.

Every candidate is informed by XLRI Jamshedpur about their selection via email. The interview round is held in February-March and the offer letter are sent to selected candidates in April-May. Those who would not receive the confirmation letter, may consider that they are not selected for admission. Candidates must keep a check on their emails. They must keep checking spam folders too.
