Q: What is the composition of XAT question paper?
A: XAT question paper comprises about 100 question in MCQ format. It is divided into four sections - Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and General Knowledge. In XAT 2022 and 2023, the essay writing section was included which was to be evaluated at the time of Personal Interview selection process. Three topics were given to candidates to choose the one topic for writing the essay. The time given to write the essay was 20 minutes.
Q: How many questions will be there in XAT 2024 question paper?
A: There will be about 100 questions in XAT 2024. Last year, the question paper consisted of 100 questions - 21 in Decision Making, 26 in Verbal & Logical Ability, 28 in Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and 25 in General Knowledge. There will be one 250-word essay as the last question of the exam. Candidates will get the option to choose one essay topic from three topics. In fact, preparation of Decision Making section is totally dependent on XAT question papers.
Q: Which section of XAT question paper is lengthiest?
A: It depends upon each candidate which section of XAT exam paper they find lengthy. It also depends on the questions chosen for the exam in that particular year. However, it has been seen that Data Interpretation questions are usually lengthy. Overall, the Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation section has the maximum number of questions i.e. 28 and candidates have to solve atleast 22-24 questions to meet the desired cut off. So, this section may appear lengthy to the candidate.
Q: Can I take XAT 2024 question paper home after the exam?
A: No. XAT is an online exam thus the hard copy of XAT 2024 question paper will not available to candidates. Candidates will be able to download and take a print out of the XAT 2024 question paper once it is released along with the XAT response sheet and answer key. The XAT response sheet and answer keys are released two weeks after the exam and contain question wise correct answers and candidate's recorded responses.
Q: Can I take a calculator inside the XAT exam hall?
A: No, the candidates cannot carry any electronic item including the calculator to the exam hall on the XAT 2024 exam day. They will be provided pen and paper for rough work inside the test lab or they can use the onscreen calculator for the same. In case you use the sheet for rough work you will have to deposit it to the invigilator before leaving the test lab. However, it is advised to use mental calculation to save time.
Q: What is the difficulty level of Quantitative Aptitude questions in XAT?
A: The Quantitative Ability questions of XAT are usually difficult as it involves calculation and applying tricky formulae to solve them. However, they are not lengthy unlike Data Interpretation or Logical Reasoning questions. Some candidates also find the Verbal Ability section lengthy or difficult due to presence of poem in the Reading Comprehension section.
Q: Is there sectional time-limit in XAT?
A: Yes, there is a sectional time-limit in XAT exam. Candidates have to complete Part 1 of the paper (Verbal Ability, Decision Making and Data Interpretation-Quantitative Aptitude sections) in 175 minutes. The Part 2 of the exam, Keyboard Mock Testing is of 5 minutes. Time allotted to Part 3 of the paper (General Knowledge and Essay Writing) is 30 minutes. Candidates must adhere to the time limit as in online tests, as soon as the timer reaches 0:00, the screen moves to the next part. If the candidate does not follow the time limit and save their answers, it may happen that the answers will get lost.
Q: Will all the questions in XAT question paper be in MCQ format?
A: Yes, all the XAT questions will be in MCQ format having five options to choose the right answer from. Candidates will have to register their responses with the help of the computer mouse. They are not supposed to touch the keyboard of the computer system. In case they touch the keyboard by any chance, the computer screen will get locked.

A: The Quantitative Aptitude section of XAT exam has 28 questions carrying one mark each. This section has the maximum weightage among all the four sections and the questions of this section are usually on the tougher side. It is sub-section of Part 1 of the question paper.
