BHU Dental College Listed Twice in NIRF 2025 Rankings; Dean Confirms Duplicate Data Submission, BHU Dental College Duplicately Listed in NIRF 2025 Rankings | Dean Explains Data Error

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Dental College appeared twice in the NIRF 2025 Dental Rankings. Dean confirms duplicate submission. NIRF to decide on correction.

The Faculty of Dental Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has been listed twice in the NIRF Dental College Rankings 2025, a first-of-its-kind anomaly. In exclusive comments to Shiksha, Prof. Harakh Chand Baranwal, Dean & Head of BHU’s Faculty of Dental Sciences, confirmed the incident was caused by a duplicate data submission — one entry sent by the faculty, another by the university at the last moment.

“This goof-up has happened because the data was submitted twice — once from our end and another time by the university at the last minute. That is why the ranking appeared twice,” Prof. Baranwal explained speaking to Shiksha.

When questioned whether one of the entries would be removed, Prof. Baranwal responded, “That call NIRF will have to take as it is not in our hand.”

Meanwhile, an internal inquiry has been initiated to understand how such conflicting entries slipped through the NIRF’s verification mechanisms. The rankings, released annually by the Ministry of Education, are a critical benchmark for students and institutions nationwide.
