NEET SS 2021 will be conducted as per the old examination pattern, the Centre has informed the Supreme Court.

The Centre and National Board of Examinations (NBE) has informed the Supreme Court that NEET super speciality (SS) exam for this year will follow the same old pattern without any change. The new exam pattern will be implemented from the next year 2022-23.

This came after the Centre had postponed NEET SS 2021 exam from November 2021 to January 2022. In an affidavit to Supreme Court, the Central government had stated that it is postponing the examination for two months to provide sufficient time to the aspirants preparing for the exam.

The government affidavit reads, "All the authorities... also felt and observed that candidates must not feel that they have not been extended sufficient time to prepare for the examination under the Revised Scheme. In the circumstances, it was decided that NEET-SS be deferred by a period of two months and be held on January 10-11, 2022 so as to provide ample time to all of them for their preparation for the entrance examination under the revised scheme."

The NEET SS will now be held on January 10 and 11, 2022 for admission to more than 4,200 seats for DM (Doctorate of Medicine),  DrNB (Doctorate of National Board), and M.Ch (Master of Surgery).

The apex court has recorded the government statement to conduct NEET SS 2021 in the old pattern and closed all proceedings related to the petition filed by 41 doctors challenging the last-minute changes to the examination pattern.
