Centre postpones NEET SS 2021 to January 2022
The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that NEET SS 2021 will be postponed for 2 months.
NEET SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality Courses) 2021 is postponed to January 2022. The Centre has informed this to Supreme Court through an affidavit that now the NEET SS will be held on January 10 and 11, 2022 instead of November 13 and 14, 2021.
Earlier, Supreme Court had questioned the Central government over the last-minute changes to the exam pattern of the NEET PG SS 2021 and had asked for its response by October 4 (Monday). After which the government decided to postpone the exam by two months to provide sufficient time to the students preparing for the exam.
The plea challenging the last-minute changes to the exam pattern was filed by postgraduate doctors and it highlighted that the change in the exam pattern just months before the exam was causing trouble for the students as they were preparing for the exam as per the previous pattern.
The apex court considered the genuine concerns of the aspirants and directed the Centre to report on this issue.
Changes in NEET SS 2021 exam patterns
Earlier, 40% of questions were from general medicine and 60% of questions were from super speciality and now with the changed pattern, from this year, all questions will come from the general medicine.
National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts NEET SS, the national level computer-based entrance examination for Super Speciality courses including Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) programs. The exam is conducted once a year. NBE has also hiked the application fee from this year.
