Dr Archana Suicide: Resident doctors at AIIMS, PGIMER protest wearing black ribbons
Resident doctors at AIIMS Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh have protested by wearing black ribbons against the harassment of Dr Archana who died by suicide yesterday after alleged harassment by the patient's family.
The resident doctors all across the country are demanding justice for Dr Archana who died by suicide yesterday in Dausa, Rajasthan after allegedly being harassed by the patient's family.
Dr Rahul Chakravarty President of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at PGIMER Chandigarh has tweeted, "On behalf of Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) PGIMER Chandigarh, we demand #Justice_For_Dr_Archana and the respect she deserves. @OfficeOf_MM sir it's high time to take concrete steps to #SaveTheDoctors in India."
"Residents of #PGIMER observed a symbolic protest by wearing black ribbons at work today as #ARD demands #Justice_For_Dr_Archana May her soul rest in peace," he said in another tweet.
Gold Medalist Dr Archana's suicide case echoed in Parliament
Margani Bharat Ram, Member of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh has highlighted this incident today in the Parliament. Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) India has thanked him for doing so.
FORDA India's tweet in this regard reads, "Thankful to @BharatYSRCP Sir, Hon’ble #MP, Rajahmundry, #AndhraPradesh, for highlighting the tragic incident of #Suicide by (Late) Dr Archana following harassment by patient’s attendants in #Rajasthan @ashokgehlot51 @mansukhmandviya"
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Twitter, "The incident of Dr Archana Sharma's suicide in Dausa is very sad. We give God status to all doctors. Every doctor tries his best to save the life of the patient, but it is not justified to accuse the doctor as soon as any unfortunate incident happens."
