A qualified MBBS doctor in Gujarat allegedly committed suicide after being unable to qualify for the MD course through NEET PG 2021.
In a shocking incident, a young 26-year old doctor, who had just completed the MBBS degree has allegedly committed suicide after failing National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2021.
As per TOI report, the young doctor wanted to pursue an MD course after completing MBBS. The police have registered a case of accidental death and probing further into the matter.
Police revealed that the doctor was living with his parents in Surbhi Row House at Anand Mahal Road. His father runs a diamond business and his mother is a housemaker.
He had completed MBBS from Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) and had prepared for NEET PG to pursue MD. NEET-PG 2021 results were recently declared and he could not find his name on the list. The preliminary investigation has suggested that he had slipped into the depression because of the results.
On Monday evening, his father found him hanging in his room and he has informed the police. He reportedly used a dupatta and hanged himself from the ceiling fan's hook.
This incident has once again highlighted the stressful lives of medicos. In November, last year, a young doctor had passed away in Hyderabad due to heart attack.
Incidents like these often point out the stress of the demanding career of practising medicine in India and also the pressure to do academically well.
