The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) successfully conducted Paper 1 of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination for the December 2025 session today, January 17, 2026. Paper 1, which started at 9:00 AM was concluded at 11:30 AM. The FMGE 2026 paper 1 exam was conducted for 100 marks for Pre and Para Clinical Subjects, including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and four other subjects. FMGE 2026 Shift 1 Difficulty Level
The overall difficulty level of FMGE 2026 shift 1 exam was moderate. The questions asked were as per the division of the marking scheme. For the ease of students, the distribution of marks for pre and para clinical subject is provided below.

FMGE 2026 Shift 1 Students' Reaction
Students who appeared for the FMGE 2026 exam shift 1 for the December 2025 session shared mixed reactions. Some students mentioned that the FMGE 2026 paper 1 was fair, while some found it tricky. A student commented that 'He had to think like a doctor in a ward during the examination'.
The FMGE 2026 Shift 2 exam timing is from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM today. Shift 2 will be conducted for clinical subjects, including medicine, psychiatry, and radiotherapy, among others.
