Govt Siddha Medical College to host national-level lecture tomorrow
Government Siddha Medical College is hosting a national-level special lecture tomorrow, July 23 at 11 am.
Dr K Jagannathan, President, Board of Unani, Siddha & Sowa-Rigpa NCISM, New Delhi will provide a national-level special lecture tomorrow hosted by Government Siddha Medical College.
Ministry of Ayush tweeted, "Govt. Siddha Medical College is hosting a National-level Special Lecture by Dr. K. Jagannathan, President, Board of Unani, Siddha & Sowa-Rigpa NCISM, New Delhi."
The lecture will focus on the reforms made by NCISM in Siddha medical education, as stated by the official notification.
Government Siddha Medical College is one of the best Indian medicine institutions in Tamil Nadu. The college is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R Medical University and recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi.
National Commission for Indian System of Medicine is established to prescribe standards of professional conduct, etiquette and code of ethics to be observed by the practitioners and to prescribe minimum standards of education for practising Indian medicines.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin made Chancellor of new Siddha medical university
In April this year, the Tamil Nadu government introduced a bill in the state assembly to establish a new university for Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga and Naturopathy and Homeopathy. According to the bill, the Chief Minister of the State will be the Chancellor of the university and he will be the head of the university.
Health Minister Ma Subramanian tabled the bill, which mentions that the new university will be named 'The Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical University' and its headquarters shall be located within the limits of the Chennai metropolitan area. The main objective of the university will be to provide programmes for research and advancement and dissemination of knowledge in Indian medicine and homoeopathy.
