J&K govt orders creation of 1612 posts for two new medical colleges
Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the creation of as many as 1612 posts for the establishment of two new medical colleges.
For two new medical colleges in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir at Handwara (Kupwara) and Udhampur, the government has ordered the creation of a total of 1612 posts.
The Health and Medical Education Department of the Jammu and Kashmir government's order reads, “Sanction is hereby accorded to the creation of 1612 posts of different categories for the establishment of two new medical colleges at Handwara (Kupwara) and Udhampur (@806 posts per medical college)." as reported by Rising Kashmir.
The official notification has added that the approval of the creation of posts will be subjected to the following conditions: -
1. The relevant recruitment rules shall be amended accordingly.
2. The direct recruitment posts are filled as per S.O. 192 dated June 17, 2020.
Administrative Council approved 1612 posts
During the beginning of May, the Administrative Council chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha approved the proposal of the Health & Medical Education Department for the creation of 1612 posts of various categories, 806 posts each for Government Medical College (GMC), Udhampur and GMC, Handwara (Kupwara).
The Jammu Kashmir government had approved this two new GMCs in the year 2019 at Udhampur and another at Handwara. The official order said that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare asked the J&K Government to submit a proposal for these two new medical colleges. The government is trying to start the course curriculum in these GMCs from the academic session 2022-23.
