The Kayakalp team of the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW) New Delhi has visited the AIIMS Bhubaneswar for the final assessment.

As an extension of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Kayakalp Award Scheme was launched on May 15, 2015, with the aim to encourage and incentivize Public Health Facilities (PHFs) in India and to demonstrate their commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control practices. AIIMS Bhubaneswar has bagged the Kayakalp Award thrice in a row for its best performance in creating sustainable practices in public health facilities and promoting hygiene and cleanliness.

For the upcoming Kayakalp Award, the team has visited the AIIMS Bhubaneswar for its final assessment of Kayakalp.

The NIHFW panel comprised Dr Roopesh Gupta, Dr Mukesh Kumar Rai, Dr Dinesh Paul, and Dr Meerambika Mahapatro.

The team visited the ICU, OPD, OT, IPD, pharmacy, CSSD, Trauma & Emergency, kitchen etc. The final assessment will be done on the basis of parameters including hygiene promotions, infection control, support services, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, and hospital upkeep. The team inspected the hospital physically and interacted with patients and staff.

The Kayakalp team had a brief meeting with the Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Mukesh Tripathy and other senior officials including Medical Superintendent Prof Dr. S N Mohanty, DDA P K Ray, Professor & Head Hospital Administration and Kayakalp Nodal Officer, Dr. Jawahar S K Pillai,, Dr. Sweta Singh, Dr. Pravash Ranjan Tripathy, Dr. Binod Patro, Dr. Arvind Singh, and Dr. Ashok Kumar Jena.

After the team's visit, the four members have appreciated the patient-friendly initiatives of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
