Manipur CM N Biren Singh chairs meeting on Shija Academy of Health Sciences
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has confirmed chairing a meeting on the establishment of Shija Academy of Health Sciences, Langol, Imphal.
Shija Academy of Health Sciences, Langol, Imphal, will be the first private medical college in Manipur. In November this year, the Managing Director of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) had confirmed that the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval for the first private medical college in Manipur.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweet on December 6, reads, "Chaired a meeting on the establishment of Shija Academy of Health Sciences, Langol, Imphal. The Shija Academy of Health Sciences will be the first homegrown private medical college in NE India and will have an annual intake capacity of 150 students."
The medical college is sponsored by SHRI. It will have a student intake capacity of 150 per year and 20% of the seats will be reserved for state government, 15% seats will go to NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) and 65% will go to the management nominees. The annual fee structure of this private medical college is proposed as per the nearest private medical colleges in Kolkata.
As per reports, all required infrastructure is in place to start the first academic session 2021-2022 from December 2021. The government is aiming to develop the state as a global health care destination and needless to say that the medical college will generate employment in the region.
As per the SHRI website, the last date for submission of the application form for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) 2021-22 at Shija Academy of Health Sciences was December 5, 2021.
