MDNIY to organise Yoga Utsav tomorrow

Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) is organising Yoga Utsav 25 days to International Day of Yoga-2022 on 27th May, 2022, at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Hyderabad. Governor of Telangana and Lt Governor of Puducherry will inaugurate the event at 6 am.

MDNIY tweet reads, " @mdniy cordially invites you to Yoga Utsav 25 days to International Day of Yoga-2022 on 27th May, 2022 at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Hyderabad. Dr. @DrTamilisaiGuv, Hon'ble Governor of Telangana & Hon'ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry will inaugurate the event."

The event will be attended by multiple digniteries including Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Yoga is gaining foothold in educational institutes

The National Medical Commission's (NMC) new competency-based medical education for MBBS curriculum includes 10 days mandatory yoga classes which started on June 12 and it will culminate on International Yoga Day on June 21. MDNIY has developed the common yoga protocol to maintain symmetry in yoga program at all medical colleges. Delhi High Court has recently asked the Central and Delhi government to submit a response on PIL seeking direction to make 'Health and Yoga Science' mandatory for up to Class 8.

Yoga and other AYUSH related practices are gaining ground after the Covid-19 pandemic experience. Sarbanand Sonowal said recently that yoga has become a mass movement under PM Modi's leadership. "It’s an opportunity for a mass movement to promote health, wellbeing and peace across the globe. It is worth mentioning that 100-day countdown will formally mark the beginning of a journey towards the celebration of IDY-2022, which will be a journey towards freedom from disease, stress and depression," he added.
