NAMS Appoints JNMC Faculty As Member
NAMS has appointed Prof Kafil Akhtar, Department of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University as a Member for noteworthy contributions to advancements in Medical Sciences.
National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has appointed Prof Kafil Akhtar, Department of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University as a Member for significant contributions to advancements in Medical Sciences.
As per Aligarh Muslim University notification, "As a NAMS member, he will work on fostering and utilising academic excellence to meet medical and social goals and promote ‘continuing medical education’ for junior scientists and medical professionals. Prof Akhtar was awarded the membership in the National Convocation of the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi."
NAMS supports and sponsors the nation-wide Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme, workshops, symposia etc. The Academy recognises the outstanding achievements by the Indian scientists in the field of medicine and allied sciences and also confers Fellowship and Membership to persons selected through a peer-reviewed process and finally voting by all the Fellows.
NAMS elects extremely eminent persons as Honorary Fellows. The list of these people is as follows - Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Dr. BC Roy, Major Gen. SL Bhatia, Dr. CP Thakur, Dr. PK Sethi, Col. RN Chopra, Dr HM Lazarus, Dr. Jivaraj N Mehta, Dr. A Lakshamanswami Mudaliar, Dr. U Ko Ko, Dr. Dharmendra, Shri PV Narasimha Rao, Prof. Rolf Luft, Dr. NA Purandare, Maj Gen SS Sokey, Dr. AC Ukil, Dr Sushila Nayar, Dr. FC Robbins, Dr. Ihsan Dogramaci, Dr. Karan Singh, and Dr. VTH Gunaratne.
