NTA to conduct the NEET 2020 exam today. Over 15 lakh candidates will be appearing for the exam which will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm in 3,843 exam centers across the country.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 today; i.e. September 13, 2020. NEET is the sole exam for medical and allied programmes in the country. Over 15 lakh candidates will be appearing for the exam today which will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm in 3,843 exam centers across the country. The NEET will be held in pen-and-paper mode. The NEET 2020 exam is conducted in September despite protests by students and several state governments that were against conducting such a large-scale exam amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis and flood situation in some states. The NEET Exam 2020 date was revised multiple times due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. The NEET exam was originally scheduled to be held in May.

The medical entrance exam is being conducted amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic for which the agency has released a set of safety guidelines. NTA, in a detailed guideline, has set a specified dress code for NEET 2020 aspirants. The instructions on the NEET 2020 Admit cards include the direction on the clothing and footwear that must be followed by the students on the NEET exam day. Candidates must read the instructions carefully and follow them on the NEET 2020 exam day to avoid any discrepancies.

“Candidate are advised to follow the dress code. Shoes or footwear with thick soles and garments with large buttons are not permitted,” NTA had said earlier.

The NTA had earlier also released a notification stating that the NEET exam centres allotted to certain candidates have been changed owing to the new COVID-19 guidelines. However, the notification clearly states that NTA is not making any changes to the exam city, only the centres allotted within a particular city have been changed to comply with the new guidelines.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also wished students appearing for the crucial NEET exam for admission to the medical courses. He said, "I am confident that even in the NEET exam, like JEE all the candidates will follow the Corona Guidelines and will take the exam with complete patience, self-confidence."

The NTA concluded the engineering entrance test, JEE Main, on September 6 and declared the results in just five days, on Friday, September 11.

Please note, due to COVID19, frisking would be done by handheld devices attached to a long stick to maintain proper social distancing. Candidates are hence advised to follow the norms and instructions provided by NTA.
