Dress code for NEET 2025
NTA has prescribed the NEET dress code 2025 under three heads.
NEET Dress Code 2025 for Male Candidates:
For male candidates appearing for NEET 2025, NTA stated the following guidelines regarding dress code:
- According to the dress code of NEET for male aspirants, long or full-sleeve shirts/t-shirts are not allowed
- Simple clothes with no zips, pockets, huge buttons, etc.
- Simple trousers/pants without pockets
- Kurta pyjamas and layers of clothing is not allowed
- Do not wear shoes, boots, or any covered footwear. Wear slippers or sandals
NEET Dress Code 2025 for Female Candidates:
For females, the following guidelines related to NEET 2025 dress code on the exam day has to be followed:
In case candidates are not allotted any seat in the second round of the NEET UG counselling, the earlier allotted seat in Round 1 will be retained. However, on up-gradation of a seat in the second round, the earlier allotted seat in Round 1 will automatically be cancelled and allotted to another candidate. Therefore, candidates are advised to fill in only higher choices or any other choice which they prefer over the earlier allotted seat, for second round.
Once a candidate joins second round seat allotted in the NEET UG counselling, he/she will not be allowed to vacate from the allotted second round seat. However if candidates are allotted a seat in Second Round and have not joined the college, then he/she can Exit with Forfeiture of security amount. Moreover, the candidates who have joined up to round 2 of AIQ or state quota will not be eligible to participate in the further rounds of AIQ or state quota.
- Wear half-sleeved t-shirts/shirts/kurta
- Do not wear long-sleeved and fancy-sleeved clothing
- Simple clothes with no elaborate embroidery, buttons, frills, etc.
- Metallic/non-metallic jewellery is not permitted
- Closed shoes are not allowed but slippers, sandals or low heels are allowed. Try wearing open sandals or slippers
NEET Dress Code 2025 Exceptions
Candidates who were not able to follow the dress code for NEET 2025 due to religious beliefs had to mention the same while filling the application form for NEET 2025. Such candidates had to select the 'Customary Dress' option while filling the NEET application form 2025. Those opting to wear the customary dress have to report at least an hour early for proper frisking and security procedures. In such cases, candidates needed to reach the exam centre by 12.30 pm so that there is sufficient time for proper security checks without any inconvenience to the candidate while maintaining the sanctity of the exam.
Items prohibited inside the NEET 2025 examination hall
Along with the NEET dress code 2025, NTA has listed the names of the things that a candidate is not supposed to carry on the day of the examination on the NEET 2025 admt card. If found in possession of any of the below-mentioned items, the candidate will not be allowed to complete the NEET 2025 examination and will have to leave the examination hall.
List of banned items at NEET 2025 Exam Centre:
The following items are not allowed to be carried to the NEET 2025 exam centre
- Any test-based material (written/printed)
- Pencil box/pouches/geometry box
- Electronic or communication devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches, cameras, Bluetooth, fitness bands, earphones, pagers, microchips, etc.
- Calculator, electronic pens, scanners, etc.
- Stationery items such as pens, scales, erasers, etc.
- Accessories such as bags, belts, caps, goggles, wallets, etc.
- Any ornaments such as earrings, nose pins, necklaces with pendants, bracelets or bangles, watches, etc.
- Eatables (packed or home-cooked, fruits, etc. unless a candidate has a certain health condition)
Candidates must note that the NEET exam centres will not have any designated space for storing the barred items. Hence, candidates should either hand over these items to their parents or guardians or should not carry them to avoid any hassle.
The responses marked on the OMR Sheet of NEET are scanned and uploaded on the official website of NTA. The responses marked are read and captured by the machines, which can sometimes lead to smudging of the responses. Therefore, there can be errors in the scanned copy of NEET OMR sheet. If a student finds any such error in their OMR sheet, they have the provision to challenge them. Candidates have to pay a processing fee of INR 200 per response challenged. The steps for challenging the OMR sheet of NEET are given below:
- Go to the official website of NTA NEET
- Login using the NEET application number and password or date of birth
- Click on “OMR Challenge”
- You will see the questions in sequential order
- Select Question (s) for which you wish to challenge the Recorded Response.
- Once you select any Question for Challenge, you will see three options under the column ‘Candidate’s Claim’.
- If you wish to challenge this option, you may use the Options given in the ‘Candidate’s Claim’ column.
- After clicking your desired option, for Physics / Chemistry / Botany / Zoology for NEET (UG) - 2023, scroll down, ‘Submit’, and move to the next screen.
- You will see a screen displaying your challenges.
- Click on ‘Submit' and Pay Fee Finally’.
- Select Mode of Payment and Pay a processing fee of INR 200 for each question/grade challenged. Make payment through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking/Paytm.
- After successful payment, download/print the Answer Key challenge receipt
Till last year, candidates were provided N95 masks at the NEET exam centre which was mandatory to be used by candidates. They had to dispose of their own masks before entering the exam centre at the designated bin. However, since the intensity of Covid has reduced as compared to the last two years, this year candidates may not be provided masks at the centre. The information will be confirmed after the release of the NEET admit card. However, it is recommended that they wear face masks for the entire duration. This should be done to ensure their and other test-takers' safety.
Candidates must reach the NEET exam centre at least an hour in advance to be able to complete the security check process on time. For instance, the exam will commence at 2 PM and candidates should reach the centre by 1 PM. The last entry to the NEET exam centre will be at 1.30 PM. The entry process will start from 12.30 pm onwards. In case candidates reach the centre later than 1.30 PM, they will not be allowed entry despite multiple requests. Hence, candidates must plan the commute and estimate the duration of commute in advance to avoid last minute hassles.
List of Permitted Items at NEET 2025 Exam Centres
Candidates will be allowed to carry the following things and documents inside the NEET exam centres, as mentioned on the NEET 2025 admit card.
- Personal transparent water bottle
- Additional passport-size photograph, same as that uploaded on application form, to be pasted on the attendance sheet
- Admit Card along with Self Declaration Undertaking and postcard-size photo pasted on it along with left-hand thumb impression
- Scribe related documents for PWD and PWBD candidates (if applicable)

Q. Will candidates with tattoos be allowed to appear for the exam?
A. Candidates with elaborate tattoos will not be allowed to appear for the examination. However, those having small tattoos or tattoos in unexposed parts of their body will be allowed to take the test. Although there is no specific instruction regarding tattoos given in the NEET 2025 dress code, tattoos may be considered unacceptable by the exam centre officials.
Q. Can I wear floral printed clothes on NEET 2025 exam day?
A: According to the NEET 2025 dress code, candidates are advised to wear plain clothes in light colour only and large prints are not allowed. Hence, floral or any kind of printed fabric will not be allowed to appear for the NEET 2025 exam.
Q. Can I wear full-sleeved kurta on the exam day?
A. Full-sleeved clothes are not allowed on the exam day. According to NEET dress code 2025, candidates must wear clothes that have short sleeves. Wearing long sleeve clothes may be deemed as following unfair means. Hence, candidates should wear half sleeve shirts or t-shirts only.
Q. Can I wear a normal wristwatch on NEET 2025 exam day?
A. NEET 2025 dress code strictly prohibits candidates from wearing any kind of watch/ornaments at the exam centre. In case a test-taker visits the NEET exam centre wearing a wristwatch, he/she will have to take it off and deposit to the centre authorities or to their parents/guardians accompanying the candidate to the exam centre.
Q. Can I wear formal shoes on the NEET 2025 exam day?
A. No, only open-toed shoes/sandals/chappals are allowed in the NEET dress code 2025. Candidates are also barred from wearing high heels or thick sole closed shoes. Moreover, wearing socks is also not allowed while going for the NEET 2025 exam.
Q. Is it mandatory to choose the customary NEET 2025 dress code option in the application form if I wear my religious attire.
A. Candidates wearing a customary dress have to choose the respective option while filling the application form for NEET 2025. Unless they choose this check box, they will face difficulty in convincing the exam centre officials to allow them entry to the centre.
Q. What will happen if I don't follow the NEET dress code 2025?
