The NEET 2025 Counselling Round 2 was scheduled to begin on August 29, 2025, but has been postponed until further notice. The Round 1 seat resignation window was originally open from August 21 to 25, 2025, which has been reopened till September 3, 2025. Announcing the same, MCC has stated, “The Resignation facility for Round-1 of UG Counselling 2025 without Forfeiture of Security Deposit has been extended upto 05:00 P.M of 03.09.2025 “

On the other hand, the PwD portal for Round-2 of UG Counselling 2025 is now active and will remain open until 12 Noon on September 9, 2025. MCC has added 13 new Disability Centres for candidates belonging to the PwD/PWBD category, wherein they can get examined and obtain their Disability Certificates in order to participate in the counselling process. Hence, there is a possibility of NEET Counselling 2025 Round 2 to begin after September 3, to September 9, 2025.

The NEET 2025 counselling Round 1 was already delayed seven times. Now, the further delay in the commencement of the NEET 2025 Counselling Round 2 indicates further delay in the medical admission process.

How to Resign Seats Allotted in NEET 2025 Counselling Round 1

In case a candidate wishes to resign the seat allotted in NEET 2025 Counselling Round 1, he or she has to follow the steps below:

  • Visit the official website of MCC – mcc.nic.in
  • Click on the NEET UG Counselling tab
  • Login using the registration credentials
  • Click on the tab indicating seat resignation

Regarding NEET 2025 Counselling Round 1 seat resignation, MCC has stated, “Candidates will have to report physically at the allotted college to resign their seat. Candidates are advised to ensure that their Resignation Letter is generated online (through portal provided by MCC) by the allotted college, failing which the resignation will be treated as ‘Null & Void’.”

The NEET 2025 counselling process began on July 21, 2025. The dates for four rounds have been announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which is scheduled till October 25, 2025. Originally, the last date of counselling was October 3, 2025, which was postponed twice due to NRI/PWD candidate requests, and ongoing court cases.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the NEET 2025 counselling schedule, which is being conducted from July 21 to November 5, 2025. The schedule may extend depending on the number of vacant seats.

Each round involves the following stages:

  • Registration
  • Choice filling and locking
  • Result
  • Institute reporting
Q:   What is the NEET counselling registration fee?
A:

The NEET counselling registration fee varies for different candidate categories. For the AIQ seats and Central Universities, the fee for the General category candidates is INR 1,000 and for the SC, ST, OBC and PwD category candidates, the fee is INR 500. For participating in the NEET counselling process for Deemed Universities, the registration fee for all category candidates is INR 5,000. The registration fee is non-refundable. On the other hand, candidates will have to pay the tuition fee which is refundable. The amount for the General category candidates for the AIQ seats and Central Universities is INR 10,000. For the reserved category candidates, the amount is INR 5,000. For Deemed Universities, the tuition fee to be paid by all category candidates is INR 2,00,000. Those who would not be allotted a seat after the NEET counselling process will be refunded the tuition fee after the conclusion of the counselling rounds.
