NEET MDS 2021 Counselling will be conducted within four weeks, Centre has informed Supreme Court. The counselling for NEET MDS 2021 will be held virtually as per the existing reservation policies. The Centre also informed the court that the delay in the NEET MDS counselling 2021 dates was due to the clarification sought from it regarding OBC reservation in All India Quota (AIQ) seats. These seats are contributed by the state medical colleges under the AIQ scheme. In the last hearing, the top court had slammed the Centre over an inordinate delay in counselling dates for NEET MDS 2021.
Directing the Centre to announce the counselling date within a week, the top court said that Centre was dilly-dallying for a year on the matter. βWhen are you going to do the counselling. Government is dilly-dallying over this. You have to hold and complete for MDS NEET. They are qualified BDS doctors and wasting their lives. Allow these doctors. What a loss to India. You are not allowing PG students to complete their studies,β the court had said.
NBE had conducted NEET MDS exam on December 16 last year to provide admission to all the postgraduate dental courses offered by the institutions in India. The results were declared on December 31. Since then students have been waiting for the Medical Counselling Committee to announce the date of NEET MDS 2021 counselling.
A group of BDS doctors had filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking direction to MCC to announce NEET MDS counselling dates. The petition, filed through the senior advocate Vikas Singh had highlighted the plight of doctors who have been waiting since December last. The delay wasted almost a year of their lives, it said.
