NEET Paper Leak: NTA Removes 47 Officials in Major Overhaul to Rebuild Student Trust
National Testing Agency has removed 47 officials amid NEET paper leak row, as per the sources. The agency seeks to rebuild its workforce and to restore student trust in the exam process.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has fired 47 officials after undertaking probe in the NEET paper leak case, as per the sources. The agency may initiate legal proceedings against some of the fired officials. The move comes amid the ongoing protests against the alleged NEET 2026 paper leak that led to the cancellation of May 3 exam and the conduct of re-NEET 2026 on June 21.Â
The agency has also initiated hiring of four General Managers and 16 young professionals through the PRATIBHA Setu portal of the UPSC. These recruitments are in line with the recommendations of K Radhakrishnan-led committee. This NTA organisational overhaul aims to rebuild students' trust in the examination process.
Some of the other changes alligned with this reform are conduct of NEET 2027 in CBT or online mode.

NEET 2027 to be held in CBT Mode
The NTA will conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2027 exam in Computer-Based Test (CBT) Mode, as per the announcement made by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The shift from OMR-based test to online test aims to ensure smooth conduct of the NEET exam with zero errors or leaks.
NEET 2026 Counselling Soon
The MCC NEET 2026 counselling for 15% AIQ and state counselling for 85% state quota seats will begin soon. As per the reports, the state authorities have not received the NEET result 2026 data yet.
