The NEET PG 2025 counselling process is set to commence tomorrow, October 17, 2025, offering a glimmer of hope to thousands of medical graduates across India.

Once it begins, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will ask candidates to complete their registration, fill in their preferences, and track seat allotments for MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses.

The news was highlighted on X (formerly Twitter) by Dr Lakshay Mittal, who tweeted, “NEET PG counselling is finally scheduled to start tomorrow. Candidates should complete registration and choice filling at the earliest to avoid missing deadlines.”

The delay in NEET PG 2025 counselling process has been caused because of ongoing legal proceedings regarding transparency of the NEET PG 2025 exam.

Supreme Court of India hearing was initially scheduled for September 26, has been not postponed to October 28, 2025.

The apex court petition challenges National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) over release of NEET PG answer keys and question papers. Petitioners have argued that current disclosure methods lack transparency and hinder the verification process.

Q:   Why delay in NEET PG 2025 counselling?
A:

NEET PG 2025 counselling is delayed possibly due to two reasons. One reason is Nationaal Medical Commission has to add some colleges and seats for 2025-26 session and second is the pending court case. NEET PG 2025 answer key transparency plea is scheduled for hearing in Supreme Court on October 28.

Q:   I didn't score the minimum cut off for NEET PG. Will I eligible for NEET PG counselling?
A:

No. Candidates need the minimum cut off to qualify for NEET PG. It must be noted only those who qualify the exam with the minimum cut off score will be eligible to participate in the counselling rounds for seat allotment. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts online counselling for seat allotment. Candidates have to register and declare choice for college and course for seat allotment. 

Q:   If I will get seat in round-2 NEET PG counselling, will first round allotted seat get cancelled?
A:

Yes. If you will be allotted seat in round-2 NEET PG counselling, your round-1 allotted seat will be automatically get cancelled. In case you don't get allotted seat in round-2, then round-1 seat will not be cancelled. Candidates have to register online and declare preferences of choice for NEET PG counselling. It must be noted, MCC conducts counselling for allotment of 50% AIQ seats.
