NEET PG SC Hearing Updates

The Supreme Court is set to hear a petition regarding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) today. The NEET PG 2025 SC hearing, which has been adjourned several times, is raising hopes for clarity on the examination process. Students are eagerly waiting for updates on the timeline for seat allocation and admission procedures for PG medical courses. The hearing is expected to address critical issues regarding the release of the question paper instead of the question ID and provide more clarity and transparency in the examination, like other national-level entrance tests.

Reportedly, 11 NEET PG 2025 plea has been filed urging the Apex Court to direct NBEMS for more transparency concerning to release of the question paper, releasing the appropriate answer key, the reservation policy and others concerning issues. 

During the hearing in September 2025, the SC bench, comprising CJI Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran, transferred the petition to a bench led by Justice Pardiwala, who directed for more transparency in the NEET PG 2025 examination process. 

The court, in the subsequent hearing, told the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to address transparency issues within two weeks and questioned the "miscommunication" that made a change in the answer key disclosure policy.

The court’s decision today could have a significant impact on the NEET PG counselling and on thousands of candidates who have been anxiously waiting for the counselling dates to be announced. 

NEET PG 2025 Counselling Schedule Awaited

While the NEET PG 2025 exam results were already declared in August this year, the counselling dates have still not been announced. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and various state authorities have started the counselling registration process, but the registration last date, choice filling dates, seat allotment dates, and admission deadline is yet to be announced. 

Once the schedule is released, students will be able to select their desired college and PG medical specialisation. With the delay in the counselling process, medical students have expressed their disappointment and are afraid that the delay will not only extend the academic period but also affect the healthcare sector. 

Q:   Who will be eligible for NEET PG counselling rounds?
A:

Candidates who qualify NEET PG exam with minimum cutoff marks as decided by NBE will be eligible to participate in the counselling. The qualifying cut off varies as per the category. To participate in NEET PG 2025 counselling, candidates will have to register on the official website, mcc. Nic. In. They also have to fill choice for college and course and lock them in the given deadline. Seat allotment is done based on different factors such as choice declared, availability of seats in particular college and course, NEET PG rank etc.

Q:   Has registration started for NEET PG 2025 counselling?
A:

Yes. MCC has started round-1 registration for NEET PG 2025 counselling on October 17, 2025. Registration can be done at mcc.nic.in by November 5, 2025. The last date to reset registration is November 5, 2025, by 10 AM. Complete counselling dates and schedule for NEET PG 2025 have been released by MCC on October 28, 2025. 

Q:   If I will get seat in round-2 NEET PG counselling, will first round allotted seat get cancelled?
A:

Yes. If you will be allotted seat in round-2 NEET PG counselling, your round-1 allotted seat will be automatically get cancelled. In case you don't get allotted seat in round-2, then round-1 seat will not be cancelled. Candidates have to register online and declare preferences of choice for NEET PG counselling. It must be noted, MCC conducts counselling for allotment of 50% AIQ seats.
