NEET UG 2025 Counselling: Round 2 Nationality Conversion to NRI Window Open Till September 4
MCC has announced that candidates willing to convert their nationality from Indian to NRI for the Round 2 of NEET 2025 counselling, can do so till September 4, 2025, 11 AM, through email. The process has started today, September 2, 2025. Know the details here.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened the window to convert NEET 2025 counselling Round 2 participants’ nationality from Indian to NRI. Such candidates will have to send an email to MCC with the requisite document proving their nationality by September 4, 2025, 11 AM. The nationality conversion window has started today, September 2, 2025, 11 AM.
The Ministry of External Affairs has revised the guidelines for NRI conversion of candidates and the list of documents has also been changed. Announcing the process, MCC has stated, “Such candidates should send their relevant documents, in support of their claim of NRI status through e-mail ug.nri.mcc@gmail.com from 11:00 A.M of 2nd September, 2025, till 11:00 A.M of 4th September, 2025.”
MCC adds, “Mails received before/ after the stipulated time will not be considered. Candidates are advised to send all documents enclosed in single mail only, within stipulated time.”

List of Documents Required for Nationality Conversion to NRI
The following documents have to be uploaded to the email in the following order:
i. NEET-UG Admit Card and Score Card
ii. Proof of NRI Status of the parent/relative:
- Valid Passport
- Visa / Residence Permit / Work Permit
- Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card / PIO card, if applicable
- NRI Certificate issued by the Competent Authority (Embassy / Indian Consulate).
iii. Certificate of Relationship between the NRI relative and the candidate issued by the competent Revenue Authority through Family Tree.
iv. Affidavit (Notarized) by the NRI relative stating that they will sponsor the entire course fee and living expenses of the candidate during the period of study duly supported by NRE (Non-Resident External) Bank Account Pass Book.
v. 10th & 12th mark sheets + passing certificate
vi. Birth certificate
vii. Passport of candidate/ Sponsorer (optional)
MCC Criteria for Candidates Willing to Convert Nationality to NRI
MCC has laid down the following conditions or criteria for candidates who are willing to change nationality to NRI:
- Candidates must have appeared and qualified for NEET 2025
- Once the category is changed, candidates will not be able to avail the benefit under Muslim Minority quota/Jain Minority Quota/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS or any other Quota.
- The conversion of Nationality of candidates from ‘Indian’ to ‘NRI’ is ‘Provisional’ based on the documents submitted by the candidates, which will be verified by the allotted college authorities at the time of reporting.
The registration process for NEET 2025 counselling Round 2 will begin on September 4, 2025, and the last date of registration is September 9, 2025. MCC will conduct four rounds of NEET counselling 2025. The first round was conducted from July 21, 2025, to August 23, 2025. Candidates can resign the seats allotted in the first round by September 3, 2025.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the NEET 2025 counselling schedule, which is being conducted from July 21 to November 5, 2025. The schedule may extend depending on the number of vacant seats.
Each round involves the following stages:
- Registration
- Choice filling and locking
- Result
- Institute reporting
The NEET counselling process is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) primarily in online mode. All the steps of the counselling process, including the registration, release of seat matrix, choice filling and locking, and release of the seat allotment result. Only the last and final round, which is the institute reporting, has to be done in offline mode. Herein candidates who have been allotted seats have to visit the institutes for document verification and complete the admission process by paying the requisite fee amount.
