NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Medical Counselling Committee has once again allowed candidates to resign from or withdraw their seats allotted through NEET UG 2026 counselling round 1 and round 2. The decision has been taken after NEET counselling authority received several requests from candidates seeking to resign from their allotted seats. The facility is available only to candidates who had accepted a NEET UG round 1 or 2 seat under Freeze or Float option and whose seat was not upgraded.Β 

Candidates who wish to resign from their joined seat can complete the process within the stipulated deadline. As per MCC notice, NEET resignation/seat withdrawal window will open at 3:30 PM on September 17, 2026, and remain available until 6:00 PM on September 18, 2026. Candidates must note that resignation from allotted seat will be allowed with forfeiture of security deposit.

NEET UG 2026 Round 1, 2 Seat Resignation: Who Can Apply?

NEET UG counselling resignation facility is available for

  • Candidates who accepted a Round 1 or Round 2 seat through MCC NEET UG 2026 counselling

  • Candidates whose status is Freeze or Float

  • Float candidates whose seats were not upgraded in subsequent counselling

  • Candidates who have already joined the allotted institute but now wish to resign or withdraw their seat

NEET UG 2026 Seat Withdrawal: Process for Freeze Candidates

Candidates who opted for Freeze and want to resign from their round 1 or 2 seat must physically report to allotted institute for resignation process. Candidates should complete resignation within deadline. NEET seat resignation will be considered valid only if the required process is completed through the prescribed procedure.

Q: Β  When is the NEET counselling result declared?

MCC announces the NEET counselling result dates for each round along with the schedule or the important dates. In general, the NEET counselling result or the seat allotment result is released within five to seven days of the round commencement.

Q: Β  What is the payment method of NEET UG counselling registration fee?
A: 

After filling the NEET UG counselling registration form with mandatory details, the payment gateway page will appear. Candidates can make online payment by choosing any of the modes, such as, Net Banking, Credit Card and Debit card only after
making the payment as per choice. Only after the successful payment candidate proceed for choice filling. Candidates must note that there will be no option for offline payment or through UPI. Hence, they must ensure that the mode of payment chosen by them is foolproof and there would not be any glitch in the payment process. 

Q: Β  Has registration started for NEET UG 2026 Counselling Round 3?
A: 

MCC will start registration for NEET UG 2026 Round 3 counselling on September 22. Candidates can register at mcc.nic.in. The last date for registration will be September 27.

Candidates who opted for Float and were not upgraded have to complete their resignation/seat withdrawal through the MCC portal. Such candidates are advised to:

  • Log in to their MCC counselling account

  • Complete seat withdrawal/resignation process online

  • Generate Seat Withdrawal Slip through MCC portal

  • Keep generated withdrawal slip as proof of resignation

MCC has advised candidates to ensure that Seat Withdrawal Slip is generated online. If candidate fails to generate slip, the resignation will be treated as 'Null & Void'.Β Candidates should carefully consider their decision before resigning. MCC has clarified that once a seat has been resigned or withdrawn, the candidate will have no claim over the resigned seat. They advised to complete resignation process and ensure that required resignation letter or Seat Withdrawal Slip is generated through MCC portal.Β
