MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 New Rules Announced

New Rule

What It Means

No physical reporting for seat upgrade

Candidates opting for seat upgradation do not need to visit the allotted college only for admission formalities.

Online seat resignation

Eligible candidates can resign from their allotted seat through the MCC counselling portal within the given deadline.

Online NRI document upload

NRI quota applicants for deemed universities can upload the required documents online through the MCC portal.

Training for authorities

MCC is conducting training sessions for state counselling authorities and medical colleges on the new counselling process.

Clear seat and fee details

States and colleges have been asked to provide updated information on available seats and fee structures to help candidates make informed choices.

No Physical Reporting Required for Seat Upgradation

This is one of the biggest changes for candidates who wish to participate in seat upgradation. Earlier, candidates had to report physically to allotted college even if they wanted to upgrade their seat in next NEET UG counselling round.

Under revised rules, candidates who choose "Upgrade" or "Willing to Upgrade" option after seat allotment will no longer have to visit allotted college only to complete admission formalities. Their allotted seat will remain secure in counselling system and they can participate in next round, as per reports.

NEET Seat Resignation Process Now Available Online

MCC has also made NEET UG seat resignation process completely online wherever resignation is allowed under counselling rules. Candidates who wish to resign from their allotted seat can now submit their resignation request through official MCC counselling portal. They will not be required to visit allotted medical college to complete resignation process. This facility will only be available as per rules and schedule notified for each round of NEET counselling.

Online Document Upload for NRI Quota Candidates

Candidates applying under NRI quota in deemed universities will now be able to upload all required documents directly on MCC counselling portal. Earlier, they often had to follow additional offline procedures for document submission and verification. With new online facility, verification process is expected to become quicker and transparent for NRI quota candidates.

MCC Conducts Training for States and Medical Colleges

To ensure that this new NEET counselling system is implemented smoothly, MCC has started conducting orientation and training sessions for state counselling authorities and medical institutions. Training programmes for State Directorates of Medical Education were held during May and June 2026. Another training session for medical colleges was organised on July 27, 2026.

Also, additional sessions are planned for both government and private medical colleges to familiarise them with updated counselling process. MCC has also directed authorities to provide candidates with clear and updated information regarding NEET seat matrix and fee structure of medical colleges.
