NMC grants three-month relaxation for submitting PG degree thesis
Amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has declared three-month relaxation to medical students for the submission of the PG degree thesis. Until now, as per the regulations, the students were required to submit their thesis six months prior to the theory and clinical/practical exams.
NMC was receiving several requests from students and medical colleges for relaxation in the submission of the thesis. Consequently, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the NMC decided to allow the postgraduate degree students of 2018-19 and 2019-20 batches to submit their thesis at least three months before the exams.
Another relaxation by NMC is related to the presentation of one poster. Earlier, the presentation of one poster was mandatory for a postgraduate medical student to become eligible to appear at the PG degree exam. The presentation of one poster includes read one paper at a national/state conference and present one research paper for a postgraduate student of a postgraduate degree in broad specialities/super specialities.
