Odisha to resume physical classes for classes 8, 11
Odisha government has approved to resume physical classes for class 8 and class 11 students this month.
The Odisha government has said that the physical classes for class 11 will start from October 21 and for class 8, it will start from October 25.
All the stakeholders are expected to strictly follow the Covid 19 safety guidelines after the classes will resume. The school authorities would ensure that mask-wearing, hand sanitising and maintaining social distancing are practised properly.
“The Covid-19 situation has been improving in the state. We will resume classroom teaching for students of classes 8 and 11 from October 21. A notification will be issued soon,” said Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash, as reported by India Today.
"The guidelines that have been issued for classes 9, 10 and 12, the same guideline and the protocols would be adhered by the schools after the classes for 8 and 11 reopen," added Dash.
He said the government has taken this decision after the direction of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and decided to continue with a hybrid model comprising both online and offline classes. The classes are to be held at the usual timings and the school department would release a detailed program regarding this soon.
The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) for today in Odisha stood at 0.59%. The state reported 340 new Covid 19 cases on Monday including 50 children below 18 years.
The highest number of cases were reported in the Khurda district with 149 new infections, followed by Cuttack which reported 43 cases today and Kendrapara reported 15 cases.
