With the COVID-19 situation getting better, Manipur schools; i.e. all government-run, government-aided and even private schools, have been asked to reopen from today; i.e. August 8 for offline classes.
All schools in Manipur resumed offline classes today since they were closed due to a spike in COVID-19 cases. Schools in Manipur were earlier closed until July 24, 2022, as a precautionary measure after a spike in new COVID-19 cases. Since the COVID positivity rate was rising, the government had decided to close schools for students up to class 7.
However, with the situation getting better, Manipur schools; i.e. all government-run, government-aided and even private schools, have been asked to reopen from today; i.e. August 8 for offline classes. The government has also released COVID-19 safety protocols to be followed for everyone's safety.
As per the orders, all the students and teachers will have to wear face masks at all times, especially on campus. They have also been advised to maintain proper social distancing and avoid overcrowding in common areas. In case, anyone falls sick or reports having any symptoms, they must not come to school.
Manipur schools have also been directed to inform parents of the wards about these guidelines. They have also been asked to keep track on the health of their wards and not to send them to school, in case they report any COVID-19 symptoms.
The government has also asked all heads of Manipur schools to take additional steps to ensure that students and staff members are fully vaccinated and they get their booster shots, if eligible. The decision was taken during a COVID-19 review meeting conducted by Manipur Government.
