Puducherry

The Puducherry government announced that schools are permitted to restart offline classes for classes 1 to 8 from December 6 (Monday).

Earlier, the schools were supposed to reopen for students from November 8, but the decision was postponed due to heavy rainfall. Director of School Education PT Rudra Goud said classes would take place half a day for students of classes 1 to 8 on alternative days. No decision regarding the restart of the mid-day meal programme had been taken so far. A decision would be taken in the due course of time, Education Minister A Namassivayam said.

As per the schedule, classes 1, 5, and 7 will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, whereas classes 2, 4, and 8 will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Schools have been shut for more than a year after the COVD-19 pandemic hit the country in March last year.
