CTET and TET validity has been extended by NCTE to lifetime from seven years. This means candidates who have qualified CTET exam can apply for recruitment as teachers in government schools through their lifetime.

NCTE extends CTET & TET certificate validity

In a big decision, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has extended the validity of CTET pass certificate to lifetime. This means that candidates who have qualified the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be eligible to apply for the job of teacher in government schools such as KVs and NVs throughout their lifetime. Earlier, the validity of CTET passing certificate was seven years.

The decision to extend the CTET and TET certificate validity was taken during the 50th Meeting of the NCTE's General Body. Among several issues, this was one of the major issues discussed in the meeting.

This provision would have a prospective effect and for candidates who have already passed the exam and who already have CTET passing certificate, NCTE would take a legal action and act accordingly, as per media reports.

Meanwhile, the revised CTET exam date 2020 has not been announced by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) yet. The board will announce the CTET exam date when it is more conducive to conduct the exams. It may be noted that CTET 2020 was earlier scheduled to be held on July 5. It was, however, postponed due to rising number of cases of COVID-19 across the country.
