JNUSU Protests Delay in UGC-NET Results; NTA Announces July 22 as Declaration Date

National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday announced that the results for the UGC-NET June 2025 cycle will be declared on July 22, 2025.
Amid mounting pressure from students and growing public outcry, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday announced that the results for the UGC-NET June 2025 cycle will be declared on July 22, 2025. The announcement came shortly before a planned mass delegation by the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) to the NTA headquarters in Okhla, New Delhi.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the NTA stated: “National Testing Agency will announce the result of UGC NET June 2025 cycle on 22nd July 2025.”
The development follows sustained protests and online campaigns by aspirants demanding clarity on the result date. Earlier in the day, JNUSU mobilised students to gather at the JNU Main Gate at 11 AM before proceeding to the NTA office, calling the delay “unjustified” and “damaging” to academic careers.
“The indefinite delay is unjustified and impacts academic planning, research prospects, and job applications of thousands of candidates,” JNUSU said in a statement signed by President Nitish Kumar, Vice-President Manisha, and General Secretary Munteha Fatima.
The UGC-NET is a key national-level exam for determining eligibility for Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions in Indian universities. With no result date declared until now, candidates had taken to social media using hashtags like #ReleaseUGCNETResults and #UGCNETJune2025 to voice frustration over the silence from authorities.
Earlier this month, Shiksha.com reported on the growing anxiety among aspirants due to the absence of communication from the NTA. The issue had added to concerns already raised over NEET-UG and CUET-UG this year, raising broader questions around exam governance and transparency.
While the announcement of a definitive result date is expected to provide some relief, JNUSU and student groups have reiterated demands for a predictable, timely, and transparent exam calendar moving forward.
