UGC NET eligibility 2021 has been revised for the June 2021 cycle exam. The NTA has increased the age limit for JRF post. Read further to know the age limit relaxations for Reserved category candidates.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the eligibility criteria for the UGC NET June 2021 cycle examination. The upper age limit for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) post has been increased for the June 2021 cycle. The NTA announced the relaxation in the age limit while announcing the exam dates and reopening of the application process for the merged UGC NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles exams.

The UGC NET 2021 exam will be conducted together for the December 2020 and June 2021 cycles in computer-based test (CBT) mode. The exam will be held in October 2021.

The UGC NET application form 2021 has been released again by the NTA to invite applications from new candidates as well as from candidates who registered for UGC NET December 2020 cycle but could not complete the application process.

UGC NET Revised Eligibility 2021: Age Limit

The table below contains the revised eligibility in terms of the age limit for JRF and Assistant Professor posts.

UGC NET Age Limit Relaxation 2021

The upper age limit is relaxed for the Reserved category candidates. Have a look:

Who are exempted from appearing in UGC NET 2021?

  • Candidates having PhD Degree in accordance with the UGC Regulation Act 2009 are exempted from the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for Assistant Professor or equivalent position
  • Candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF exam prior to 1989 are exempted from appearing in the NET exam
  • Candidates, who have qualified for any State Eligibility Test (SET) such as MH SET, APSET and KSET exams that were held prior to June 1, 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET. Such candidates can apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India
  • In the case of SET exams held from June 1, 2002, onwards, the qualified candidates can apply for Assistant Professor only in the respective state universities/colleges.
