UPSC Added IAS Exam Centre in Leh for Ladakh Students
UPSC approved a new IAS Exam Centre for the Civil Services (Prelims) Exam 2021. See here details
UPSC has approved a new exam centre in the Leh region for the candidates belonging to the Ladakh region. The UPSC 2021 notification was scheduled to release on February 10, but because of the pending case in Supreme Court, the UPSC notification was delayed by almost 15 days. Meanwhile, the UPSC issued a notice stating that the UPSC IAS Prelims 2021 exam will be conducted on the pre-declared date that is June 27.

The UPSC will issue the Civil Service (IAS) 2021 notification soon. The UPSC need to change the eligibility condition for the candidates as per the affidavit submitted in the Supreme Court. In the hearing of the UPSC and the Union Government of India, both agree to grant an extra attempt to the candidates who fulfil the age criteria this year but exhausted their number of attempts.
The UPSC has IAS prelims exam centres in almost all the capital cities and other prominent cities. The total number of IAS prelims exam centres (cities) is 72 and with the addition of Leh, the total number of IAS exam centres will now be 73.

The IAS Prelims exam is the first stage of the three. It is a screening exam and the marks secured in the IAS prelims exam are not considered for the final merit. It is the screening exam and most of the candidates are filtered out of the exam at this stage only.
