The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will issue the new IAS 2020 exam dates soon. The UPSC IAS prelims 2020 exam was scheduled to be conducted on May 31 but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic and the consequent lockdown across the nation.

The UPSC will announce the new IAS exam dates on June 5 as per the official notice released on May 20. The UPSC had not issued new IAS 2020 exam dates on last two occasions and revised the dates for the announcement of new IAS exam dates.

The UPSC IAS personality test 2019 was also postponed. This will be a challenge for the UPSC to accommodate all the pending and new exams in the present UPSC exam calendar. So it will be likely that UPSC will issue new exam calendar for 2020-21.

The UPSC IAS 2020 prelims exam is most likely to be conducted in July or August. It will have the implication on the candidate’s preparation if the IAS main exam is not postponed in the same proportion.

The UPSC 2020 prelims exam is a screening exam only and the marks secured in the IAS prelims exam have no consideration for the final selection. The IAS prelims exam comprise two objective type question papers conducted offline across India. The prelims is conducted based on the IAS exam pattern notified in the UPSC IAS 2020 notification. No matter what, IAS prelim exam is the most important stage of the IAS selection process for most candidates.
