UPSC has issued the IAS interview schedule on June 9. The IAS interviews 2020 will begin on August 2 at the UPSC office premises in New Delhi. The candidates need to come from their place of residence to the UPSC building to appear in the face-to-face personality test. UPSC will issue the e-summon letter to the candidates shortly. The candidate needs to download the e-summon for the UPSC interview and appear for the interview as per the date given in the e-summon letter.
The UPSC IAS interviews were scheduled to be conducted from April 26, but because of the rise in the COVID-19 infection cases, UPSC postponed the IAS 2020 interviews to a future date. The IAS 2021 prelims exam was also postponed on May 13.
The UPSC interview is the last stage of the IAS selection procedure and the candidates need to appear for the personality test, not a subjective interview. UPSC test the suitability of the candidates for the services. The UPSC interview tests the candidates’ perception about the various events of national and international importance. The UPSC interview board asks questions about the candidate’s academic and professional background. The detail mentioned in the IAS Detailed Application Form (DAF) is very important because most of the questions have been asked from the IAS DAF.

The candidates should prepare each detail of the DAF so that they can answer the questions asked by the UPSC interview board. To prepare for the IAS interview, the candidate must do mock interviews. It can be with a group of friends or with the coaching institute. They should prepare the latest news about their hometown, state, region and the likes. The candidate is expected to know the latest developments in their academic and professional fields. For example, if a candidate has a computer science background, he is expected to know the details about the emerging technologies related to computers such as Artificial Intelligence, blockchain development, cryptocurrency and the likes. The interview board is free to ask for anything and everything. So the candidate should be ready for such questions.
