UPSC issued a notice for conducting the Engineering Services (IES) Main 2020 exam on October 18. The Union Public Service Commission reiterated that the IES main exam will be conducted on the said date and in the two-page notice, it also issued the IES main exam instructions. These instructions were also released with the IES admit card released on September 22.

The UPSC issued the instructions for the candidates to be followed on the IES main exam day. The UPSC has not issued the COVID-19 specific instructions for the candidates. The instructions related to the hygiene and the self sanitisation were issued along with the IES 2020 main admit card and not mentioned with this notice.
UPSC IES 2020 main exam day Instructions
The UPSC has issued the following instructions related to the IES main exam day.
The mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, pager, smartwatches and any connectivity device or programmable device or any storage device such as a pen drive etc. are not allowed in the examination venue. Any infringement to the above instruction may follow disciplinary action against the candidate, which can include the debarring of the candidate from the future exam.
Any valuable/costly item or bag will not be allowed in the examination venue.
The candidate must bring the same identity proof, the number of which is already mentioned on the IES admit card.
The candidates are required to bring the Black Ball-point pen for filling the attendance in the Attendance List.
The candidates need to take a print out of the IES main admit card well in advance.
The candidates should inform the UPSC in case of any discrepancy in the Admit card. The email-id for this purpose is usengg.upsc@nic.in.
In case of the photograph printed in the IES admit card is blurred or not clear, the candidate must bring two photographs to the exam venue to give undertaking if required.
The candidate needs to appear at the exam venue mentioned in the IES admit card. The candidate is not allowed to appear at any other exam venue.
The UPSC provided the timeline to raise the objections on any question in the IES main question paper. The UPSC in the notice notified that the candidate can object online only from October 19 to October 25 till 6 pm. The candidate can raise objections only at the given URL – https://upsconline.nic.in/miscellaneous/QPRep/.

COVID Specific instructions
The candidates should compulsorily wear the mask in the exam venue and without a mask, the candidate will not be allowed inside the exam venue.
The candidates are allowed to bring their hand sanitizer in a transparent bottle.
The candidate needs to adhere to the social distancing guidelines issued by the appropriate authorities from time to time.
The candidates should follow the norms of personal hygiene in the exam venue.
The candidates should follow all the instructions because in case of any deviation from the instructions candidates will be asked to follow the instructions and it will take a toll on the time of examination.
