Union Public Service Commission is conducting the IAS interviews 2019 amid the coronavirus pandemic. For conducting the IAS personality test in these testing times, the UPSC has done preparations for the safety of candidates as well of the UPSC members and staff.

UPSC had started the IAS personality test 2019 from February 17, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, UPSC postponed the IAS Interviews 2019 scheduled for March 23 to April 3, 2020. The IAS interview of 623 candidates was pending. IAS personality test is the last phase of UPSC IAS exam.

UPSC scheduled the remaining IAS personality test from July 20 to 30. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the normal means of transportation are not available to the candidates such as railways and flight. For a one time measure for this year, the UPSC decided to reimburse the lowest ‘to and fro airfare’ to the candidates coming for the personality test to the UPSC premises.

In a first, the UPSC is also helping the candidates with their lodging and transport requirements as the hotels and lodges are not fully functional and the city transport is also not available easily. UPSC is providing a ‘Sealed Kit’ comprising a face mask, face shield, a bottle of sanitizer and hand gloves to all the candidates coming for the IAS Interview. Since there are senior members in the UPSC interview boards, the commission has taken all precautionary and safety measures for contactless interviews to shield the interviewers and the interviewees appropriately.

The commission’s staff involved in the conduct of the personality tests will also be equipped with suitable protective gear. UPSC has made all the arrangements for regular sanitization of all the rooms, halls, furniture and equipment. The commission has also taken care of social distancing while making the seating arrangements for the candidates. UPSC also communicated the protocols and guidelines to the candidates and ask them to follow the same.
