When will UPTET 2020 exam be held?

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test 2020 (UPTET 2020) is likely to be conducted in December. However, as per media reports the Uttar Pradesh government is waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to subside and then conduct the exam.

Last year, UPTET notification was released in October 2019 and the exam was held on January 8, 2020. Over 16 lakh candidates had applied for the exam out of which about 15 lakh aspirants had appeared. Over 3.5 lakh candidates had qualified the exam.

Will UPTET be conducted twice a year?

As per media reports, The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has proposed that UPTET exam can be conducted twice a year similar to Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). However, any official confirmation in the regard is yet awaited.

EWS reservation in UPTET 2020

Until now, there was no reservation for candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in UPTET exam. However, if media reports are to be believed, going forward, EWS candidates will get a reservation of 10 per cent in in the exam.
