Punjab and Haryana High Court directs NTA to revise CUET PG 2025 answer key marks for Political Science, potentially affecting PG admissions across universities.

In a crucial development for thousands of postgraduate aspirants, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has upheld a legal challenge to the CUET PG 2025 answer key and directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to award revised marks in the Political Science paper. This decision could directly impact CUET PG–based admissions across central, state, and deemed universities.

The court was hearing a petition filed by a Political Science student who disputed the correctness of an answer listed in the CUET PG provisional key. The question pertained to constitutional amendments, and the court noted that the petitioner’s answer was factually and historically accurate. The NTA, the court said, had taken a “hyper-technical” view of the question, resulting in an unjust denial of marks.

As per reports by The Indian Express, this ruling could set a legal precedent and compel NTA to re-evaluate scores, affecting the merit ranks of thousands of students across disciplines. The court’s directions come at a sensitive time when universities such as Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Panjab University have already begun PG admissions based on CUET PG 2025 scores.

Counselling processes and seat allotments may now have to be revised once NTA updates the affected candidates’ scores. University admission authorities have been advised to wait for final directions from the NTA regarding revised scorecards and merit lists.

This marks the second time in two months that a high court has intervened in CUET-related admissions. Experts suggest this may lead to delayed academic sessions for some PG courses and uncertainty in the admission process.

Candidates are advised to keep checking the official CUET PG and NTA websites for updates on re-evaluated scores and revised merit rankings.
