The IISER application process for students applying through the SCB channel will begin on March 23, for the KVPY channel will begin from April 24, and for JEE channel will begin from June 1, 2020.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) has released entrance exam dates for BS and BS-MS Dual Degree Program admissions 2020. The institute will conduct the examination on May 31, 2020. The government of India established IISER to promote and integrate interdisciplinary science research and education.

This year, several changes have been made by IISER in the application process, eligibility, and entrance test. The institute will begin the application process for the application process of the 2020 academic session, before the declaration of class 12 result. The application process will be conducted via online mode on March 23 onwards.

IISER has also relaxed the eligibility criteria. Earlier, the institute used to consider top 10 percentile scorers in State or Central Board (SCB) exams, now the condition has been relaxed and the top 20 percentile scorers are eligible for applying. IISER takes admission through one channel that is State and Central Boards. The other two admission channels of the institute are Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) and Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY).

The IISER application process for students applying through the SCB channel will begin on March 23, for the KVPY channel will begin from April 24, and for JEE channel will begin from June 1, 2020.

For taking admission through JEE Advanced, General category candidates securing rank within 10,000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2020 are eligible to apply. However, reserved category candidates (OBC-NC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10,000. Also, additional criteria for marks obtained in 10+2 board examinations will apply.

For taking admission through the KVPY channel, a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from the 2020-21 academic session must be there with the candidate. Again, the candidate should also fulfill the additional cut-off criteria for 10+2 examinations.

Candidates applying through the SCB channel need to appear for IISER Aptitude Test (IAT). The computer-based IAT will have 15 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. 180 minutes will be given to answer 60 questions. Questions will carry 3 marks each and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

At present, there are 7 IISERs in India, located at Bhopal, Berhampur, Thiruvananthapuram, Mohali, Kolkata, Pune, and Tirupati.
