NEST 2021 Exam Pattern
NEST is conducted in online or computer-based test (CBT) mode. According to the NEST 2021 exam pattern, it is of 3.5 hours and is conducted in English only. The total number of questions is 70 and the total marks is 180. The exam is divided into sections such as General, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The exam structure is given in the below table.

The exam will be conducted in two phases, from 9 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 5.30 pm in around 90 cities across India. Candidates have to choose five cities according to their convenience while filling the application form of NEST. The address of the test venue allotted to the applicant will be mentioned on the NEST admit card. The exam is conducted for admission to Integrated MSc programmes offered at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and Mumbai University - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai.
