University Exams 2022: NSUI urge UGC to ensure online exams in both colleges, Universities
The NSUI Presidents said that the students and guardians from around the country have mailed and called us to raise the issue of online examination. The government and Higher Education Regulator, UGC, should look into the matter seriously and urgently.
In wake of the rise in COVID-19 cases and its variant Omicron, the student's wing of Congress the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), has urged that the examinations in colleges and Universities shall be held in online mode. Neeraj Kundan, President, NSUI, has raised concern over the rise in the number of COVID cases across the country.
While interacting with media, the NSUI Presidents said that the students and guardians from around the country have mailed and called us to raise the issue of online examination. The government and Higher Education Regulator, UGC, should look into the matter seriously and urgently. Considering the present situation, we can't compromise with the health of the students.
He said that once again, a panic situation is arising in the country. "Due to huge Covid cases, health infrastructure is collapsing in most of the states. The vaccination of students has just started and not all the teachers are fully vaccinated. Therefore, no risk should be taken. We are in the third year of the pandemic and still, no specialised evaluation policy has been made for the students."
"Examinations are scheduled in February and March, and a policy should be made so that the academic year of the students do not get wasted, and they can have plenty of time to prepare for entrance examinations demanded the NSUI," he said.
Several colleges and universities across the country have closed their campus and have moved the classes entirely online owing to the present pandemic situation. However, many of them are planning to hold offline exams for students. Like Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has issued a notification that all pre-scheduled and ongoing exams will be held as per the schedule and there will be no online exam as being demanded by the students.
