The University of Toronto has long standing ties with India and we recognized some years ago that India continues to emerge as a very important country in the world. We have a deep interest in strengthening our connection with this country. And we're doing it in a variety of ways, including through the establishment of this centre.
University of Toronto to set up centre in Mumbai
The University of Toronto will be setting up its India outpost in Mumbai, a deep research centre that will work towards addressing pressing issues of cities including air quality, urban management and climate change.
The Tata Trust will fund the centre for the first five years. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay will collaborate with the centre as scholars from both the academic institutes will work together to identify issues, understand challenges and design solutions.
