UP: Primary student left locked in government school; 10 staffers suspended

A six-year-old class 2 student Prem Prakash was left locked in the classroom after he has fallen asleep. After the incident came to light, as many as 10 staffers including the headmaster of the school were suspended.

As per reports, teachers and school staff didn't notice that the child was sleeping inside the class and locked the school and left. The boy woke up at around 5 pm and started crying. After hearing his cries, people in the neighbourhood gathered around the school and found him locked in the classroom. The boy was rescued after his family called a teacher and searched the school, as reported by Times Now.

"The headmaster and nine assistant teachers have been suspended following a preliminary inquiry. The inquiry found the teacher guilty for alleged negligence," said BSA Sandeep Kumar.

The incident took place in Nagla Singh village in Sasni area of the district and punitive action was taken by Basic Shiksha Adhikari. The video of the incident also went viral on social media.

Similar incident took place in Ballia recently

One such incident was recently reported from the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh where a 5-year-old school student was inadvertently locked in the classroom as the school staff left for home for the day. The child identified as Aaditya was later rescued by his parents after they reached school.

"After school hours, we always check the rooms before leaving. But since that student had fallen asleep, we didn't spot him. We came to know about it later in the day. He is fine now," said the Principal of this school.
