- CLAT is conducted by the Consortium of NLUs while NLSAT is conducted by NLSIU Bangalore
- CLAT is mainly for admissions to 5 Year LLB and LLM from top NLUs and other private universities, whereas NLSAT is for 3-Year LLB Hons. admission in NLSIU, Bangalore.
- You can aim for CLAT if you have passed or are still in class 12, whereas only graduates are eligible to appear for the NLSAT exam.
- The duration of the CLAT exam is 2 hours, and that of NLSAT is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- There are a total of 120 questions in the CLAT exam and 75 questions in the NLSAT exam, which also includes essay questions.

To apply for NLSAT 2026 visit the nls.ac.in. Candidates can register online only. Those wish to apply must note that there is no other website you can visit to apply for NLSAT exam.

No, it is not necessary to pass in individual sections of NLSAT.
How NLSAT Scoring Works
NLSAT is a composite score exam.
Your overall score (sum of marks across all sections) determines your rank.
Sections include:
English Comprehension
Logical Reasoning
Legal Reasoning
Current Affairs / GK
Elementary Mathematics
There is no minimum cutoff for each individual section.
