National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to be established soon: Union Minister Jitendra Singh

The centre will soon establish National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct recruitments to the non-gazetted posts and public sector banks. The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Jitendra Singh, while launching the IAS Civil List-2020 on June 25 said, “The proposal for establishment of a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is at an advanced stage.”

“The NRA will conduct computer-based online Common Eligibility Test for recruitment to non-gazetted posts. The test centres will be established in every district,” the Union Minister further added.

The announcement for forming National Recruitment Agency or NRA was made by Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, in her Budget 2020 speech. In her speech she said that currently, candidates have to appear for multiple examination conducted by multiple agencies. As a result of which, candidates face hardships in terms of time, effort, and cost. To mitigate this, it is proposed to set up NRA.

NRA will work as an independent agency for conducting Common Eligibility Test (CET). This will streamline the recruitment process of Group B, Group C and Group D posts. The agency will also conduct clerical-level recruitment in public sector banks. While it will not conduct the recruitment for Probationary Officers.

Some of the recruitments that will be conducted by NRA through CET are RRB Group D, RRB NTPC, SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC MTS, SSC JHT, etc.
