What is SSC MTS?

SSC is the Central Recruitment Agency that conducts the SSC MTS exam. It is a national-level exam conducted by SSC for recruitment of candidates in General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments and offices of the Government of India. Candidates recruited as multi-tasking staff by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) fall in Pay Band-1 (INR 5,200-20,200) + Grade Pay INR 1,800. The SSC MTS exam is conducted to recruit candidates for the following posts.

The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC MTS notification 2023 on January 18 with a delay of one day from the dates mentioned in the SSC exam calendar 2023. The Commission released all the important details related to the SSC MTS 2023 exam in the official notification. SSC MTS notification mentioned details such as vacancies, eligibility conditions, application dates, vacancies, syllabus, exam pattern and the rules related to the exam recruitment. SSC MTS Eligibility - Nationality Requirement

The candidates must be a

• Citizen of India or a person of Indian Origin
• The subject of Nepal/Bhutan
• Tibetan Refugee
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

All candidates other than Indian citizens will be required to take the no-objection certificate from the Government of India before the appointment.

SSC MTS Qualifications

The candidate must have passed the Matriculation exam from any recognised board/institution. The candidates appearing in their matriculation exam can fill out the application form, but their final result must be declared before the said date otherwise they will not be considered eligible for the exam.

SSC MTS Age Limit 

SSC revised the age limit for the Havaldar post. Now the upper age limit for the Havaldar post is 27 years.

(i) Age of 18 years and should not exceed the age of 25 years, as of January 1, 2023 (i.e.candidates born not before 02-01-1998 and not later than 01-01-2005) for MTS

SSC MTS Eligibility - Exemptions Provided to PwD in the PET/PST

The Staff Selection Commission increased the number of vacancies from 11,409 to 12,523 on January 20. SSC MTS 2023 Syllabus (Revised)

The Commission revised the SSC MTS syllabus and renamed the sections as per the changes made in the list of topics. SSC MTS 2023 syllabus was released with the official notification. The Commission only gives the name of the topics in the SSC MTS syllabus. The candidates should prepare all the topics mentioned in the syllabus so that they can ensure better preparation and consequently better marks in the exam. 

SSC MTS Paper 1 Syllabus for Numerical and Mathematical Ability 

Questions asked in the Numerical Aptitude section are simple and of Class 10 level. Topics from which questions are asked in this section include:

SSC MTS Paper 1 Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving Syllabus

SSC MTS Paper 1 General Awareness Syllabus

The Commission added certain topics in the General Awareness which were awaited for long. The Commission can also

SSC MTS Paper 1 English Language and Comprehension Syllabus

The SSC MTS English section had an impact because of the removal of MTS paper 2. The Commission added Comprehension in the English section to compensate the removal of Paper 2.

SSC MTS 2023 Exam Pattern (New)

The Commission notifies the exam pattern in the official notification. SSC MTS Paper 1 (CBT) is conducted based on the exam pattern given in the official notification. The SSC MTS 2023 exam pattern was not changed because no such information was conveyed by the commission.

The SSC MTS paper 1 will be conducted in April 2023 as per the exam pattern shown above. The new exam pattern has increased the weightage of General Awareness and English in the whole selection process. The questions will be set in English, Hindi, and in 13 regional languages.

Negative Marking in SSC MTS Paper 1 

SSC MTS paper 1 has a negative marking of the quantum of one by four. It implies that the one-by-fourth marks (of the marks assigned to that question) of the candidates will be deducted for each incorrect answer marked in the SSC MTS answer key online. SSC MTS 2023 Exam Centres

SSC MTS 2023 Answer Key

The Commission will release the SSC MTS 2023 tentative answer key within a week from the last date of CBE exam. The final answer key will be released online after the result. The Commission will conduct the SSC MTS paper 1 in April 2023 so the SSC MTS 2023 tentative answer key is expected in April/May 2023. The candidates will be able to calculate their marks from the official answer key.

SSC MTS 2023 Selection Process

The Commission conducted the SSC MTS exam almost every year to recruit candidates for non-technical posts. There are the following two tiers in the SSC MTS exam. 

• Tier 1 - SSC MTS Paper 1 - Online
• Physical Efficiency Test(PET/Physical Standard Test (PST) - Qualifying only

SSC MTS selection process includes the following steps:

Step 1: Fill SSC MTS application form

Step 2: Download SSC MTS admit card

SSC regional websites released the application status and admit cards for the candidates. SSC MTS admit card had all the important details about the candidate (such as name, roll number and category) and the exam (such as exam centre name and address).

Step 3: SSC MTS Paper-I

Step 4: SSC MTS Paper-I Result

SSC released the paper-I result within 45 days of the exam.

Step 5: PET/PST 

The candidates who cleared paper 2 were called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST).

SSC MTS 2023 Cutoff

The candidates need to score equal to or more than the category cutoff to get promoted to the next tier of the exam. The SSC MTS cutoff is the marks of the last qualified candidate in a particular category. The SSC MTS paper 1 is conducted as CBT. SSC MTS result 2021 (paper 2) is expected to be released soon because the Commission conducted the PET/PST from November 21 to 25, 2022, and the designated authority will conduct the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) of the candidates who opted for the Havaldar post. The Commission conducted the SSC MTS paper 2 across the nation on November 6. The Commission changed the SSC MTS paper 2 requirement and the candidates were asked to write either one short essay or one letter. The duration of SSC MTS paper 2 was also reduced to 30 minutes.

For SSC MTS Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST) also, the Commission changed the chest measurement criteria for the male candidates who appeared in the PST.
