SSC MTS 2023 applications are going on and the last date to apply for the exam is February 17. What is SSC MTS?

SSC is the Central Recruitment Agency that conducts the SSC MTS exam. It is a national-level exam conducted by SSC for recruitment of candidates in General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments and offices of the Government of India. Candidates recruited as multi-tasking staff by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) fall in Pay Band-1 (INR 5,200-20,200) + Grade Pay INR 1,800. The candidates must be a

  • Citizen of India or a person of Indian Origin
  • The subject of Nepal/Bhutan
  • Tibetan Refugee
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

All candidates other than Indian citizens will be required to take the no-objection certificate from the Government of India before the appointment.

SSC MTS Qualifications

The candidate must have passed the Matriculation exam from any recognised board/institution. The candidates appearing in their matriculation exam can fill out the application form, but their final result must be declared before the said date otherwise they will not be considered eligible for the exam.

SSC revised the age limit for the Havaldar post. Now the upper age limit for the Havaldar post is 27 years.

SSC will conduct the PET/PST exam for the Havaldar posts. SSC will provide exemptions to the candidates belonging to different categories as mentioned below:

Negative Marking in SSC MTS Paper 1 

SSC MTS paper 1 has a negative marking of the quantum of one by four. It implies that the one-by-fourth marks (of the marks assigned to that question) of the candidates will be deducted for each incorrect answer marked in the SSC MTS answer key online. Q: Is it compulsory to appear for both paper-I and -II of SSC MTS exam?

A: Yes, it is compulsory for candidates to appear for both the papers of SSC MTS exam. Candidates not appearing in either of the paper are disqualified for the exam. The final selection is made based on the marks secured in the paper 1 and Paper 2. Though SSC MTS paper 2 is qualifying only but the candidates are required to pass it in order to get selected. Same with the case of SSC MTS PET/PST and DME (for Havaldar Posts).

Q: When will SSC MTS PET/PST 2021 result be released?

A: Staff Selection Commission can release the SSC MTS 2021 PET/PST result soon The exam was conducted from November 21 to 25, 2022. The Physical Efficiency Test(PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST) was conducted by the designated authority (CRPF). The Commission will release the roll number of the qualified candidates and the category-wise cutoff for each state. The candidates will be required to search their roll number in the result pdf. The Commission will release the number of candidates available for the next phase of selection process (under each category).

Q: Was the SSC MTS 2021 PST requirement changed?

A: Yes, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released a corrigendum on December 9, 2022, amending the Physical Standard Test (PST) for male candidates. The candidates can check here the important details about the change. This SSC MTS exam has seen the maximum number of changes after the release of result. Earlier, the Commission changed the exam pattern for the SSC MTS paper 2 and the PET exam. 

Q: Is there any exemptions announced for the PwD candidates in the SSC MTS 2021 PET/PST?

A: Yes, Commission released a notice on June 2, 2022, for providing the exemptions to PwD candidates in the SSC MTS 2021 PET/PST. SSC released the complete list of exemptions for all the sub-categories under PwD. The Commission releases the exemptions for the PwD candidates in the official notification as well as after the release of official notification through the addendums.

Q: what is the upper age limit for SSC MTS Havaldar revised?

A:  The candidates can check the age limit for Havaldar post in the official notification. The Commission released all the eligibity criteria including the age limit in the official SSC MTS notification released on January 18. Now the upper age limit for the Havaldar post is 27 years. Earlier it was 25 only. 

Q: Is SSC MTS conducted in offline mode?

A: No, SSC MTS Paper 1 is conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The marks of the candidates are then normalised to provide a level playing field to all candidates. SSC MTS paper 1 is the only paper in the exam now (as per the new exam pattern). The marks secured in the SSC MTS paper 1 will be considered for the final merit. PET/PST is qualifying only.
