Q: Can the candidates appearing in Matriculation, apply for the SSC MTS exam?

Candidates who are appearing in their matriculation exam can apply for the SSC MTS exam, but they must ensure that they fulfill the age requirement as mentioned in the official notification. However, it is advised that such candidates should not apply for the exam, as they may not be able to produce their matriculation certificate at the time of document verification. The Commission will release the admit card only to those candidates who have uploaded their matriculation certificate during the application process.

Therefore, it is recommended that candidates who are appearing in their matriculation exam should wait for the results and then apply for the SSC MTS exam.

What is SSC MTS?

SSC is the Central Recruitment Agency that conducts the SSC MTS exam. It is a national-level exam conducted by SSC for recruitment of candidates in General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments and offices of the Government of India. Candidates recruited as multi-tasking staff by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) fall in Pay Band-1 (INR 5,200-20,200) + Grade Pay INR 1,800. SSC MTS Full Form

The full form of the SSC MTS exam is Staff Selection Commission Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination. The Staff Selection Commission released the tentative answer key and invited the representation from the candidates against the incorrect questions and answers as mentioned in the question paper or answer key. The candidates will be required to send their objections through the integrated platform -ssc.digialm.com.

SSC MTS Age Limit

The SSC MTS Havaldar age cutoff date was August 1, 2025. Additionally, the SSC revised the age limit for the Havaldar post. Now the upper age limit for the Havaldar post is 27 years.

(i) Age of 18 years and should not exceed the age of 25 years (i.e.candidates born not before 02-08-2000 and not later than 01-08-2007) for MTS

Age Limit for Havaldar

(ii) Age of 18 years and should not exceed the age of 27 years (i.e.candidates born not before 02-06-1998 and not later than 01-08-2007) for Havaldar in CBIC (Department of Revenue) and CBN (Department of Revenue) and few posts of MTS.

SSC MTS and Havaldar Eligibility - Exemptions Provided to PwD in the PET/PST

SSC will conduct the PET/PST exam for the Havaldar posts. SSC will provide exemptions to the candidates belonging to different categories as mentioned below:

SSC MTS and Havaldar - Nationality Requirement

The candidates must be a

Citizen of India or a person of Indian Origin
The subject of Nepal/Bhutan
Tibetan Refugee
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC MTS and Havaldar - Qualifications Required

The candidate must have passed the Matriculation exam from any recognised board/institution. The candidates appearing in their matriculation exam can fill out the application form, but their final result must be declared before the said date otherwise they will not be considered eligible for the exam. It implies that the candidate must have passed Matriculation on the last date of SSC MTS application.

The SSC MTS and Havaldar exam will be conducted in September/October 2025, as per the exam pattern shown above. The new exam pattern has increased the weightage of General Awareness and English in the selection process. The questions will be set in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages.

Negative Marking in SSC MTS and Havaldar Exam

SSC MTS and Havaldar paper 1 has a negative marking of the quantum of one by four. It implies that the one-by-fourth marks (of the marks assigned to that question) of the candidates will be deducted for each incorrect answer marked in the SSC MTS and Havaldar answer key online.
