Women candidates can appear for NDA exam from May 2022: Centre tells SC
The Ministry of Defence on September 21 informed the Supreme Court that it will release a notification allowing women candidates to appear for NDA exam in May 2022. Read below to know the complete details.
A board of Officers has been convened to formulate the futuristic proposal for training of women cadets at the NDA. The medical and physical fitness standards for selection of women candidates are also being deliberated upon.

The affidavit filed by the Ministry of Defence states that any dilution of physical training and service subject like firing, etc. will invariably impact the Battle Worthiness of the Armed Forces adversely. Therefore, facilities like equitation, swimming, games and sports are to be developed for the female cadets. New residential facilities will have to be developed to ensure a physical separation between the residential areas of men and women. Modification to facilities such as bathroom cubicles will also be required for privacy.
National Defence Academy Examination or NDA exam is one of the most sought-after defence entrance exams in the country. The exam is conducted for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). NDA is conducted twice a year in two stages: written exam and SSB Interview.
